| I created this cake for Jennifer who was having a cherry blossom theme. She brought me a picture of Ron Ben Israel's cherry blossom cake. It was the inspiration point for this cake. It is different, as no two cherry blossom cakes are ever alike! Each little blossom was made by hand - I didn't even use a cutter for these flowers! I made many blossoms and the main branch of the trunk was made out of chocolate fondant and some chocolate clay. My good friend Betty Perrin of Flourgarden Cakes went with me to set this cake up. My cake boy (my husband) had been in a serious accident and was unable to help. We got to the reception and it was a gorgeous display of cherry blossom branches full of blossoms. Her cake reflected her theme and was unique as she is. I have had calls as far away as Washington State about this cake! It was featured in a local magazine, too. |
| Wired cherry blossoms made for an ICES Day of Sharing in Arlington, Texas April 2008. Some of these were made with a cutter that Jennifer Dontz of Sugar Delites offers. Each petal was hand modeled and dusted before wiring and taping. |
