About Cakes So Special
My name is Denise Talbot. I love creating beautiful things that are intricate and detailed. Folkart painting, ceramics from pouring,
firing and painting, crochet, quilting, and scrapbooking are some of the crafts I have enjoyed. I have taught folkart painting and
participated in craft shows with both folkart painting on wood and fabric and with ceramics. I trained as a florist years ago and I enjoyed
working with the flowers. Everything that I have learned from these crafts I bring into creating cakes.
I have taken classes from world class cake decorators: Colette Peters, Eleonore Rielander, Debbie Brown, Maisie Parrish & Jill Mathem.
I have also taken classes with Ultimate Cake Off Challenge participants Rebecca Sutterby, Mark Seaman, Jennifer Dontz, Martha Hebert
and Becky Guidry of The Sweet Southern Ladies. But, I would say that I learned the most from my dear friend, Dena Bryngleson, who is a
fabulous decorator and a wonderful friend.
I had the privileged to be on the Ultimate Cake Off Challenge, not once but twice, with Martha Hebert, her sweet sister, Becky Guidry
and Jennifer Dontz. We competed in July of 2009 and won the competition for the Peterson Automotive Museum. We competed again
in January 2010 with a gorgeous wedding cake. Check us out on March 22 on TLC to see who wins!!!
I am continuously learning and honing my skills as a decorator so that I can bring the latest and most up to date trends to the brides
that choose Cakes So Special. I am a member of ICES (International Cake Exploration Society) and a founding member of the Southeast
Texas Cake Club.
